Tuesday Afternoon - The Moody Blues

A field, a Tuesday afternoon, and a 'funny' African cigarette were all band member Justin Hayward needed to come up with this perennial hit, charting at #24 in 1967. If you're a true native of Jax and the surrounding areas, you should recall the 'Yellow Frog' head shop in Normandy Mall. They loved playing this song, with good reason! The song featured a Mellotron, run by member Mike Pinder, a Mellotron guru, due to having worked for the company what manufactured the Mellotron - 'Streetly Electronics'. On the first US tour, the machine decided to belch all the tape out the rear, prompting a delay in concert while Pinder fixed the temperamental gadget. He pulled it through, and the show went on, cementing America's love of the group firmly in our hearts.

Lagniappe: At the insistence of a producer, the song is listed on the album as 'Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?)'. Sometimes, producers can be true idiots.

Enjoy!
