Coconut - Nilsson

Harry Nilsson was a prolific song writer, penning hits for other artists as well as himself. This #8 hit from 1971 is a testament to that talent. Featuring three personas, the narrator, the sister, and the doctor; each voice was done by Nilsson himself. The song is unique in that there are no chord changes at all, it is simply an arpeggiated C-7th, wherein the notes of a chord, normally played together, are stepped out, so to speak, one after another, and originally were meant for harp music. A cool song, definitely high on my list of personal favorites.

Enjoy!
