Charting at #2 in the US, and #1 in the UK, this 1975 hit came from Eric Stewart's wife assertion that repeatedly saying 'I love you' meant he didn't, as he was saying it too often. No word on if this song got the message of how he did love her across or not. To get the lush, dense background vocal effect, the group did some 256 vocal dubs of themselves vocalizing in the background. Kathy Redfern, secretary of Strawberry Studios, provided the whispered vocals of 'Be quiet, big boys don't cry'. A right proper love song, fully deserving of the rating it achieved.
