Best Coaches on Campus
Who ya got?
For me, I don't think the top spot can be debated. Clearly, Billy Donovan is the best Gator coach. He will have a chance to go down as one of the all-time great coaches in his sport. I could make the argument that he is already the best collegiate coach the state of Florida has ever seen in any sport.
But what about the rest of the roster? Who would be your top 3 current Gator coaches? Here's mine:
1. Billy Donovan. 450 career wins and counting. Two national championships. Three SEC Tournament championships. Five regular season SEC championships. Four time national coach of the year award winner. 31-11 NCAA tournament record. Great recruiter. Great developer of players for the NBA. And he did all this and more at a football school with just about no basketball tradition, poor facilities and no fan interest. He likely will go down as the greatest Gator coach ever.
2. Rhonda Faehn. Winning at about an 80% rate in the nation's premier gymnastics conference. Never finished below 4th place in said conference. 4 SEC championships. 1 national championship. Six time SEC coach of the year. Top 10 national finish EVERY year she has coached.
3. Amanda O'Leary. 62-17 record at UF. Architect of one of the nation's best lacrosse programs. Her first recruiting class that became the first Florida lacrosse team was the top ranked class in the nation. In only the second season of the program's existence won a conference championship in a conference that boasts several traditional national powers and the then 5-time defending national champs. Final Four in 3rd year. Stay tuned for what should be a deep run this year.
In the conversation: Mike Holloway, Mary Wise, Gregg Troy, Roland Thornqvist, Buddy Alexander, Tim Walton, Becky Burleigh.
And on a side note - the incredible coaching talent we have at Florida is proof that Jeremy Foley is hands down the best AD in the nation.

Forgive me for not knowing the names of all the coaches. But Billy D is the obvious number one choice.
The girls gymnastics, volleyball, and softball coaches have been doing well for some time. The lacrosse team is not even a half decade old and are doing very well.
Common denominator....Jeremy Foley. Dude is money.

I mentioned Walton, but omitted Sully. And I'm a season ticket holder for baseball too. Guess I've been trying not to think about baseball this year!
