This great tune hails from 1968, ranking at # 6 on the US Pop charts, and #2 on the US R&B chart. A plaintive, soulful cry, the song centers around a man's need for a woman, although he would be cheating on another woman. A native of Montgomery Alabama, Clarence attended the 'Alabama School for the Blind' in Talledega, having lost his sight when he was 1. From there, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Music from Alabama State College, graduating in 1960. A formidable talent, one not given the airplay he deserves.
